Oh Well
Actually I was moving well throughout the very early morning hours. I was joyful when I finally passed a few runners. Two others, also fatigued from a very long days run, were now in sight. Frankly I was startled when the Race Director, the well-known Bob Becker, pulled up beside me in his car and gently informed me that I would not be able to make the 75 mile time cut off for runners and thus I would have to end the race here and now. Frankly, I was surprised, I totally had forgotten about the cut off time. Perhaps with better planning I would have been able to meet the cut off. I knew too that I would not make 100 miles in 24 hours. At any rate I completed the race walking only 68 miles.
Sadly, I had to leave the race. I have walked 93 miles in 24 hours in the past and have completed more than 75 miles in 24 hours on five previous occasions. But today I settle for ending near Long Pine Key. Oh well, better walking next time!

Tired already
Having passed the full marathon distance well over an hour ago the walking now is more challenging. I put my head down and pump my arms just as I pass the 40 mile point.

In the Flow
I am now at the 20 mile point. The sun is up. I am hot and not considering the remaining 80 miles ahead. At this point I tell myself I am flowing along nicely.
