Well, is it Douglas roaming about or just Tom? Actually, Douglas is a little place which I have the opportunity to walk completely through west to east. It’s about 50 miles east of Casper and as far from any other recognizable town. Its east side is seedy. Move west and you have the flavor of a romantic old western village. It is quaint but full of flavor.
The adjoining side roads to super highway 25/26 are hard to come by. I keep a close eye out though since the rolling prairie and very occasional ranch make for enjoyable walking. No matter how you get to Douglas, after a hard day on the road be sure to stop at the Depot Restaurant, chow down on a great stake, and savor the flavor of train days long gone by.
