“Shank Mare”
If you’re near Marsh Lake turn south off the Alaska Highway along a desolate dirt road and soon you’ll encounter the only restaurant within miles. Actually, Tom’s is a small deteriorating wood cabin. To locals, or summer residents, however, Tom’s is the not only place to eat but it is the local gathering spot. Fortunately the four small tables that comprise the restaurant are seldom filled. Tilly, the proprietor always makes a fresh cup of coffee for each quest. As she is in her 80’s, she will also tell you all about the history of this lonely part of the Yukon.
