An Ultimate Fighter Takes on the Rain
The downpour starts in the wee hours of the morning. I know then that this will be a tough day. Donned with my classy Gortex running jacket, covered with a knee length disposable plastic parka, I patter into the wind and swirling rain. Mistake! After an hour and a half, drenched, I am forced to seek out a Missoula sporting goods store. I know my inadequate rain cover will not allow me to continue in deluges such as this one. I succeed in acquiring a real water proof rain suit {Made in China, and costing $24]. I also secure a pair of water proof gloves. I fight through the continuing torrent for the rest of the day, unhappy, but warm and dry.
Later, rejuvenated by a hot bath and abated by the low mileage walked for the day, I finally discover where the well to do in Missoula dine. Elated by a small, of course, bottle of wine, and stimulated by fine lamb and homemade ravioli I plan my route for tomorrow where more rain is predicted. P.S. Do visit the Pearl Café, if you have the money.
