The terrain west of Cody is magnificent. Jagged rock cliffs. Sweeping desert vistas, hot sun [today], and the omni present Cody Dam rippling in green and blue as it dominates the north end of the highway. I raced through three short tunnels etched sturdily in the mountain. Fortunately each had a narrow dirt pathway for walking one foot in front of the other along the curb.
I continue to be amazed by the impact Wild Bill Cody had on this once desolate land. Tomorrow I will leave his haunt, head west, and continue my quest near Yellowstone’s Old Faithful where I ended this stage in May.
