The Reservation

The Seminole Indian tribe has a large enclave strategically situated in a somewhat desolate area north of what is called “Alligator Alley”. It took me a while to find the northern terminus of the trail located about 3 miles west of the Billy Swamp Safari. Off I trekked again into the heavily wooded area. Strangely I came across a woodsman clearing the wooded dry Swamp vegetation. Apparently he was making room so that pickup trucks could ply this portion of the Seminole territory.” You are doing it backwards” the worker told me.” Your pack is too small and don’t you have to walk the trail twice” nonetheless it was encouraging for me to encounter my first life person along the Florida Trail.
