Coal, day and night.
“You used to trains comm’in by day and night”, the hotel clerk inquires. “Well yes”, I say partially truthfully. I do live near the commuter railroad near my apartment in New York but not actually whistle blowing, smoke chugging hundred car freight trains rolling by all day and night like they have out here in the far west. When I ask about all the coal someone says “Going to Korea, China and Japan.” I reflect on the reasons why we still do not accept the concept of “clean coal”. I later learn the EPA has concerns about the coal loading facilities along the Columbia River and their environmental impact. Alas, I am still not convinced.
Coal, day and night.
