This, the driest, nastiest, summer since 1901 and I picked it to traipse across the lonely shoulder less roads of Central Nebraska. Temperatures in June and now again in July have soared above 100 degrees, every day. The going is slow. The heat, sweating and swelling are producing foot blisters slowing me down and causing worry. Even at 7 PM the temperature still sizzles at 100 as the sun monster fights to stay awake.
