Penthouse Fever
Miami Beach is wonderful. Blue water, green palms, and red sun ripened bodies paint Miami’s primary winter paradise. Why would anyone want to trade this luscious living for temperatures hovering around twenty below zero, winds howling at forty miles an hour and snow drifts that are impossible to walk over?
Such is my dilemma. I love the fun in the sun but the thrill of adventure beckons.
In a few days I will head to Point Barrow, Alaska the northern most point in the United States to continue my Dream Walk. I plan to race walk 250 miles across the frozen Arctic Ocean from Barrow to Deadhorse, Alaska. This will be Stage 4 of my attempt to be the first person to walk from the northern tip of the U.S to the most southern point in Kew West, Florida. I have already walked from Deadhorse south through Alaska and across the entire Yukon Territory of Canada.
There won’t be much sun along the Arctic coast at this time of year. I will wobble along in the cold, dreary darkness dreaming of Miami. Such is the dilemma of a long distance walker!
