Rest Day

It started as a normal “race day”. After my first two hour walking session I felt the pain, a twitch in my groin. I rested and stretched but the pain persisted. I remembered the age old walking adage “the best way to avoid injury is not to get injured”. I decided to take a day off even though I had walked eleven kilometers. It is 8 AM so the day is mine.

I locate the Price George Aquaderm, swim a little, soak in a Jacuzzi, rest, sleep and consume a breakfast of two small McDonald’s hamburgers. After a bedtime Budweiser beer I was ready for social Friday [A Puerto Rico term for a pre week end party day] As the sun rises I am on the road again ending up walking nearly 40 kilometers. I am well again!
