What’s in a Name
He was a well liked French fur trapper named Jacques La Ramie. Like most independent mountain men of his time he spent months alone exploring the vast expanse of the old west. On one such tripping outing along what s not called the Laramie River, La Ramie set out alone but never returned. In his honor other trappers named the most prominent mountain peak after him and the name “Laramie” was forever immortalized.
